About Team
I practice Classical Chinese medicine and offer treatments through a mobile clinic that serves most areas in Washington state. I also provide long-distance healing using video platforms like Zoom. With the mobile clinic, I visit clients in their offices, homes, or other convenient locations.During in-person treatments, in addition to analysis of symptoms and medical history I will check your pulse using the Shen-Hammer system, a modern Chinese pulse diagnosis method. This technique is based on traditional methods from the Menghe Ding physicians, with roots going back to the 15th Century. Ding Jiwan taught this method to Dr. Shen in Shanghai and Hong Kong between 1937 and 1942. Dr. Shen was the only survivor of World War II with this pulse knowledge and later moved to the USA to escape the Communist Revolution in China.
In the early 1970s, Dr. Hammer, a psychiatrist and Chinese medicine practitioner, met Dr. Shen while working at a clinic on Long Island, New York. Hammer apprenticed under Dr. Shen for eight years, and they collaborated for nearly thirty years. They documented the Menghe pulse method in their book, "Chinese Pulse Diagnosis: A Contemporary Approach" (Hammer 2005).This pulse method uses Classical Chinese medicine theory to describe how energy changes in the body help maintain balance when facing stress. The pulse provides valuable information about these changes, which are unique to each individual.
By feeling the pulse at the radial artery, we can understand these energy changes, giving us detailed diagnostic information about your inherited traits, current health, and possible future health paths. In Shen Hammer , a practitioner can listen in may ways not only to what people say, but also how they say it and even to what they avoid or don't say .
I earned my Doctor of Science in Oriental Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM). My doctoral thesis focused on using emotional therapy in Classical Chinese medicine to treat mental illness.
During my studies, I completed a two-year mentorship with Dr. Brandt Stickley, LAc, from whom I learned many valuable techniques, including those developed by Dr. John H. F. Shen and Dr. Leon Hammer. This mentorship allowed me to integrate Shen-Hammer techniques with Jing Fang formulas. Dr. Stickley worked closely with Dr. Hammer for 20 years and has become an expert in Dr. Hammer’s approach to Chinese medical psychology.
In addition to my studies, I have over ten years of experience in Western herbalism and formulation. I also completed a year-long herbal mentorship with Dr. Heiner Fruehauf, PhD, LAc. Dr. Fruehauf is renowned for his expertise in Chinese medicine and herbal therapy. He founded the Classical Chinese Medicine program at NUNM, the Hai Shan Center, and the Classical Pearls herbal company. He specializes in treating serious conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and chronic digestive disorders. We offer some of his herbal formulas through his company, Classical Pearls Herbals, which sources ingredients from small family farms in China. At AuthenticHealer.com, we are committed to sourcing our herbs and supplements responsibly. Please call for a free consultation.
Additionally, I am trained in trauma-informed care, Qigong healing, emotional healing based on the Wang Feng Yi method, sound therapy, energy healing, and meditation from IAM Healing.
